Ryan Kwanten
Ryan Christian Kwanten was born on November 26th, 1976 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Ryan has always been athletic. He was interested in swimming, surfing, snow skiing, golf and triathlons. Ryan has 3 younger brothers and were actually the ones interested in acting.
When Ryan was fifteen, he was discovered purely by accident. His mother needed to take his younger brother to an audition and Ryan waited in the car. Seeing that he was going to be late for swimming, he went inside to find his mother. Taking one look at Ryan, they dragged him into the audition.
He began getting many television roles but his big break came when he got cast in the popular Australian series Home and Away in 1988. Ryan won an award for Best Australian Actor at the Inside Soap Awards for his role on the hit series. He was also nominated for a Silver Logie at the 2002 Loge Awards which are the Australian version of the Emmy’s. He spent 5 years on the series but when it ended, he moved to Los Angeles and began to perfect his American accent.
He soon began to appear on American television series such as Tru Calling 2004, Summerland 2004-2005 and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2008. His big break came when he was cast as Jason Stackhouse in the HBO series True Blood. Ryan plays a highly sexed town hottie and the main character Sookie’s brother.
Ryan has done some films in Australia and in America. He is most recognized for his role in Flicka in 2006, starring with Alison Lohman. In 2007, Ryan appeared in Dead Silence, Don’t Fade Away and Red Hill. Ryan will also be starring in the upcoming movies, Griff the Invisible and Guardians of Ga’Hoole. Both due out in 2010.
